Miles That Matter

Campaign Description

Athlete Courtney Carter will be RUNNING them! 100 miles means something different to people around the world. For some, it’s the weekly distance they cover to collect necessities, for others, it’s the distance to safe refuge, and still for others, it’s something more. Global Action Institute is partnering with runner Courtney Carter as she takes on the Rocky Raccoon 100-mile ultra marathon on February 1st, 2025, to make these 100 miles matter.

Menorah in Rose Lubin’s Honor

Global Action Institute proudly honored the legacy of Rose Lubin, a courageous Dunwoody High alumna who dedicated her life to serving Israel. Through our campaign, we successfully raised funds to purchase a new menorah for the Light Up Dunwoody event on November 17. This menorah stands as a lasting tribute to Rose’s memory, symbolizing resilience, hope, and her unwavering commitment to our shared values. Thank you to everyone who contributed to keeping her light shining in our community.

Faraja Children's Home, Arusha

Project Description

GAI traveled to the Faraja Children’s Home for a two week site visit, identifying critical needs for infrastructure repairs, water filtration upkeep, and access to safe and nutritious meals. The team took actions to address immediate needs and continues to support the work from afar.

Outcome

  • Established a system for ongoing support of cooking firewood, continuing to fund provisions until Faraja no longer requires assistance.
  • Completed structural repairs and re-painted the school.
  • Provided 207 children with educational materials and clothing.
  • Repaired water filtration system, providing reliable clean water access. GAI continues to provide support and receive water updates to ensure the system remains functional.

Project Description

Forged multiple partnerships on the ground, allowing GAI to support operations of Esperanza, the GRACE Foundation, and Segundas Oportunidades.

Outcome

  • Supported math, English reading, and writing courses for over 25 students.
  • Provided funding for critical medical needs in the community, resulting in the successful completion of oxygen treatments for a four-month-old girl, and the distribution of much-needed wheelchairs.
  • Contributed to nutritional support programs through providing new mothers with formula and other supplies at a community-hosted baby shower.
